Behind the music
The Story Behind the Song
I was born in Drumheller, spent my early years near Dorothy, and later grew up around New Norway. Alberta has always been home, and much of my life has been spent exploring its backroads, small towns, farms, forests, mountains, and prairie highways.

For nearly three decades, I've called Edmonton home, but I've never stopped travelling throughout Alberta. From family road trips to my work as a surveyor and later in video production, I've had the opportunity to see nearly every corner of the province, from the Peace Country to the Rockies, through ranchland, industrial towns, and open prairie.
Like many Albertans, I grew up listening to country radio, with stories shaped by the land, the weather, and the people who built their lives here. Those influences, together with a lifetime of experiences across the province, helped inspire this song.
These Alberta Skies is my tribute to the people, places, and pioneering spirit that make Alberta special. It's a celebration of the land, the freedom, the opportunities, and the enduring sense of home that Alberta represents.
The project is also part of my ongoing exploration of technology and digital media. Bringing together songwriting, music production, video, AI, and web development has been an opportunity to experiment with new creative tools while drawing on skills I've developed over the years.
The music video features original footage I've captured during my travels throughout Alberta over the past several years. It's a collection of places I've visited and scenes I've experienced firsthand, brought together to tell the story of a province I've always called home.
